Federally Funded Multi-Site Research​

The Trilogue™ team helps Pitt investigators who are interested in leading a multi-site PCORnet® study understand how best to leverage PaTH and PCORnet® Resources. RWE research through PCORnet® can be funded by a variety of sources, including NIH, AHRQ, PCORI®, Foundations, and others.

Industry Partners​

Trilogue™ partners with industry and clinical stakeholders to improve understanding of patient populations, physician workflows, and treatment trends. We aim to facilitate the implementation of guideline-concordant clinical care for the benefit of patients as new therapeutic options emerge.  We help our research partners to home in on the right questions and design studies that generate implementable answers.  Every study is conducted with a physician who can interpret real-world data in the context of particular disease states and navigate the features of the EHR specific to our health system and those of our network partners. We engage patient partners to keep the efforts grounded in the lived experience and real-world dilemmas that patients face.

Our alliance management team works with industry to connect with the most appropriate scientific partners and take the lead in navigating the contracting process.  We work to understand your priorities and align them with those of our physicians to ensure we jointly conduct research of the highest possible impact for our patients.

Trilogue™ Scholars Program

We invite researchers at the University of Pittsburgh/UPMC to explore the study opportunities and support Trilogue™ Center offers. Whether you are familiar with engaged research design or want to learn more, contact us to collaborate on your next project.

The Trilogue™ Scholars Program aims to mentor and engage early-career scholars through hands-on participation alongside experienced researchers, as well as improve the capacity of PaTH sites to oversee research in our network. Through this program, Scholars will:

• Gain experience in pragmatic research

• Learn to design and conduct multi-site trials and electronic health record (EHR)-based observational studies
• Make connections with collaborators across the country

In sum, our goal is to help researchers gain the skills and confidence needed to lead and participate in multi-site RWE studies. Additionally, we hope that Trilogue™ Scholars ”alums” will serve as PCORnet® Ambassadors within their home departments to help spread awareness of PaTH and PCORnet® resources and stimulate new studies of national scope that leverage PCORnet® resources.

What can you expect from your experience as a Trilogue™ Scholar?

Trilogue™ Scholars represent the PaTH Network in oversight of CRN deliverables for select studies.

• Attending meetings with the study teams and the PaTH workgroup
• Reporting on site activities with the project manager, gathering deadlines and action items to share with site team, and take ownership to ensure those action items are implemented
• Potentially joining recruitment teams, providing support of institutional review board (IRB) and data use agreement (DUA) documentation and planning
• Working with investigators planning PaTH and/or PCORnet® studies to help them understand PCORnet® resources

Trilogue™ Scholars join a small but growing community of recent Scholar alums to mutually support career development, such as participating in a journal club and seminars by PaTH-affiliated experts.

Trilogue™ Scholars represent the PaTH Network in oversight of CRN deliverables for select studies.

• Attending Friday PaTH Leadership calls, Informatics team meetings, future research topics (FRT) meetings, or other committee work
• Shadowing Informatics teams to learn more about computable phenotypes and query planning
• Participating in PaTH teams’ manuscript development

The Trilogue™ Scholars program provides 1-year salary support of 10% FTE. We periodically invite junior faculty at the University of Pittsburgh to apply to this program. Our portfolio of active and forthcoming studies provides ample opportunities for Scholars to participate in research that is in line with their interests.
